Sire: World Cup IV Dam: SPS Esplanade
Wellesley is a son of Windswept Farm's foundation stallion World Cup IV. This sire line, going back through Woermann and Wohler, has produced outstanding horses with World Cup IV, Wenzel I, Weltmeyer, Wolkenstein II and Warkant to name a few.
Wellesley combines his father's beautiful temperament and powerful appearance and his dam's elegance and lightness. He is a very attractive and trainable horse, not only has he talent for dressage, but he is also a scopey and talented jumper. His dam, EM Esplanade, produced numerous successful show horses both for the dressage and hunter ring.
Wellesley's offspring have been above expectations, highly trainable and attractive horses with lots of athletic ability and a wonderful work ethic. So far each one of them has shown talent for dressage and jumping. His first son Wainright and his brother Waterloo are already successful in the hunter ring, and daughter EM Wildflower, was a high-scoring mare in her MPT (7/8/8/8 and 8/9 for jumping).
Another colt, Wolfe WF(2003), has been Champion at several breed shows, as well as 'Circuit Champion' in both the Young Hunters and High Schooling Hunters at the Blenheim EquiSports Spring Series (California). Two of Wellesley’s daughters, Waltzing Mathilda (2005) and Wendy Lady (2007) were both Champion Fillies at their AHS inspections, and Waltzing Mathilda has just begun her show career, also as a hunter, and is already winning. Several offspring of Wellesley’s are currently showing much success in the dressage ring as well, so his versatility as a sire of champions for many disciplines is outstanding.
Photo's below showcase several of Wellesley offspring.... the videos show both Wolfe and Waltzing Mathilda excelling in the hunter ring.
